I just verified that the Plus has the protection diode.
It's CR17 on the analog card.
There's 0.4 VDC drop across it with my 3.65 VDC battery.
CR16 is the steering diode that substitutes +5 VDC from power supply when
the Plus is on.
So, reverse installation of battery shouldn't cause damage, unless the
diode is shorted, which is extremely unlikely.
