True, but System 6 didn't have a bunch of arcane command-line mumbo-jumbo to learn. That's the kind of thing that you can't just "figure out" from playing around with the OS; you have to specifically be told what the commands do (and yes, I lump reading the man page under "being told what to do"). I'm gradually warming more and more to OS X, but it'll never hold a torch to the classic MacOS. > I'm a new ager I admit, one of the only reasons I originally came on > board was that I was impressed by a G4 running OS X Public Beta but > having got in I'm absorbed. In a way, the more people say stuff like that to me, it only makes me more resolute in my devotion to pre-OS X. But then, I've never been one to follow the crowd. I know people from the Apple II list who are, yes, still using Apple II's. And most of the world would probably make fun of them and dismiss them, but obviously they have a tool that works for them and does everything they want, the way they want, and they're not going to change just because it might be fashionable. I don't use an Apple II as an everyday machine, but I think it's pretty cool that some people still do, in spite of "the march of technology" and so on. -- *** Amber Rhea *** [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.tangerinecs.com /"\ ASCII Ribbon Campaign \ / No HTML/RTF in email X No Word docs in email / \ Respect open standards! -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
