I'm not so sure about that. Personally I think that we won't see any really interesting developments in computer technology for the next ten years. Of course processors will become faster, hard disks bigger and operating systems and applications more bloated, but you won't see any big developments, like the rise of the World Wide Web, revolutionizing the industry. My take is that over ten years the classic mac os will still be pretty usable for a lot of *normal* everyday work. Just like the Mac OS of ten years ago from now (ca. 1992, the system 7.1 era) is still pretty usable. Of course you can't run the latest version of ms office, but you can run Quark 4.1, wordperfect 3.5, Netscape 4.08, eudora 4.x on it. Note that the mentioned productivity sofware is still pretty commonly used. Quark 4.1 rules the DTP industry and can run on a 68020. Quark 5 will not catch on for about two years to come, and runs on any ppc (starting with the early 1993/4 models). -- ---------------------------------------------------------- Check out the System 6 Heaven: http://www.euronet.nl/users/mvdk/system_6_heaven.html Subscribe to the LEM system6 list: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> ---------------------------------------------------------- -- Compact Macs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/>.
