it just occurred to me, but another bleach would be salt peter, aka
potassium nitrate. it is still available in small bottles at some drug
stores. it's also just the thing for rotting out old stumps, which it's
been used for for many decades (i've been doing that this summer). this
is assuming of course you don't live in a place that's been stupid about
trying to make it unavailable to bomb makers. the mentioned attempt to
thwart bomb makers actually backfired, it just prompted them to use
chlorine based oxidizers which produce explosives that are more
powerful, less stable (that usually comes with more power), and smell
different than nitrate based explosives so all the dogs had to be
retrained. apparently some people have never seen mad magazine and
don't understand the futility of "spy VS. spy". ammonium nitrate would
also be a good bleach, it's in some fertilizers, sometimes pure, and of
course also makes fine explosives and is explosive all by itself though
not too easy to set off.

re: oxyclean, if you use the paste method i mentioned, letting it crust
and dry on will probably also produce some interesting results for the
really hard to bleach parts.
