I for one do not mind a little bit of socialism. It sometimes is the only way people get what they really need.

Having lived under the socialistic health system of Canada for a few years I can tell you it is not bad. My in-laws still live there and get real good health care, free prescriptions and live nicely on their pensions. They do not have to worry about going bankrupt affording health care in their senior status.

Socialism has taken on a negative term due to some badly implemented versions of it. (NOTE Communism which was bad at everything it did.)

As Tom noted earlier Medical systems in Europe and Canada are socialistic. Everyone gets treatment and insurance. The Rich can buy some better treatments, but even the indigent get decent medical care.

One of the things socialism does interfere with is the concept of I want what I want when I want it and I mean NOW! I think we Americans sometime forget how well off we have had it. Europeans do not always like us because we do tend to be impatient and expect far more than what we deserve.

Having just read the entire "Joe the Plumber" quote for the first time, the

is prosperity at all levels.
However, the phrase "spread the wealth around", when taken out of context,
does sound like socialism (which we in the US disdain). I'm sure Mr. Obama
regretted that choice of words. However, it didn't matter much in the end.
