I agree. It would be a shame to part out what sounds like a really nice plane. Have a competent mechanic take a look a give you an estimate (or get two or three) before taking drastic steps. A good mechanic, as opposed to a shop specializing in engine overhauls, may be able to give you a better price. You might be able to reduce the price by working out some sort of barter arrangement, too. Good Luck.
