If insurance for doing this is a worry, be aware that AIG freely offers an endorsement that will let me toss the keys to any PP-ASEL or better (even with no time in type) and say, 'go take her for a ride.' I'm still covered. You might want to look into this type of coverage, since a lot of policies talk about who has to be PIC.
