I agree with everything except one important point: do
not start the engine unless the airplane will be
flown! A friend did the same thing: started his engine
and ran it at operating temp for ten minutes every
week for two years until finally getting his medical
back, only to find out his Cessna Cardinal engine was
totally rusted out and trashed. The local Lycoming rep
said that getting the oil up to temp on the ground and
then shutting down has the potential to do far more
harm than leaving it sit unused because each heat-cool
cycle adds more condensation. Typical 4cyl aircraft
engines need about 30 minutes at cruise RPM & temp to
eliminate all the water from the crankcase. If it
can't be flown, better to "pickle" it and leave it
alone.

As long as a certified pilot is current in the type,
they can act as PIC while you fly. That way you can
keep the engine healthy and continue to enjoy your
'coupe.
