It's very easy to verify if you have a stuck valve. Make sure the
magnetos are grounded and pull the prop through by hand at least 4 times.
If a valve is stuck the prop will pull very easily one of the times.
Listen to the exhaust pipe to see if it is an exhaust valve, and listen to
the carburetor air inlet to determine if it is an intake valve.

I flew the Coupe yesterday to the hangar, with an instructor onboard, to
the hangar about 20 minutes away. The spinner bulkhead had been discovered
cracked in the annual so I had it as well as the spinner bulkhead removed.
About 10 minutes into the flight RPM went to 1900 with the engine running
very rough. We powered back as we approached a local airport and the
engine smoothed out. We landed and inspected with no visible problem. We
took off, climbed to 3000AGL over the airport and finished the hop. The
onboard instructor was also an A&P and said we might have stuck a valve on
a hot cylinder due to the missing spinner not directing air properly into
the cowl. Anyone else had this experience with a spinner off? Thanks ED
