Hi Larry,
Let me jump in here....My dream plane is a Beech 18, the thin engine
version of a coupe with a
tailwheel. There is one flying around here, I don't know where it's based
but I've seen it several times.
It has all the USAF markings on it but it doesn't have the reserve unit on
it so I think it must be
privately owned.
I've got some time in a turbo Arrow, what a great plane (for a rich
person)! One time I was flying one
to build up my 'complex' time and I was out over the Pacific (over
Northbend Oregon) doing a 180 at 1600 msl
and headed straight for Eugene.
As the ocean disappeared under my left wing I glanced at my watch.
Sixteen minutes later Fern Ridge Lake
disappeared under my wing. WOW! What a ride!!!
This was back in the early to mid '70's. I hate to think what it
would cost me to rent one at todays
prices! I could probably fly my coupe all afternoon for less than it
would cost me for an hour in the
turbo Arrow!
    Try one, you'll like it! ; - )))))

I've flown neither of these, but I
