Hi Georgia,

In a rainy area, the high wing has benefits....some place to stand while
it
rains..., as opposed to raining into the open cockpit...

I have a lot of time in 172's, and have found them to be solid , reliable
airplanes...as shown by their record..

Interestingly, in ~ 1948 on analysis of the airplane market Fred Weick
proposed a 4 place airplane, recognizing that Families would want the
extra
seats....even if they didn't use them often.... and started development of
a
4 place Coupe --the Ercoach... Marvin Dunlap is now finishing building the

prototype.. Hopes to fly this spring.

I do think of the 172 as a station wagion....solid dependable, but a bit
sluggish... as compared to an MG Roadster (Ercoupe)... It is amazing to
me,
after all these years just how responsive the coupe is; and how light and
responsive the controls are compared to other airplanes I have flown...

Yes, it would be nice to have a stable of airplanes.....
