Hi Georgia,

We have two coupes and will be selling one soon to afford finishing our
*old* 172 project.

Our coupes are like sportscars....small, simple and fun. But the 172,
after we put the O-360
in it, will be our stationwagon. It may not be the same kind of simple
fun,
but it will be utterly
predictable and dependable. And when we set the trim, it will stay that
way. (If I sneeze in the
coupe, it's a major PIO (pilot-induced oscillation)).

There are trade-offs for every kind of airplane, and each has it's plusses
and drawbacks. the
kind of plane(s) one flies mostly depends on the "kind" of flying one
needs
or wants to do.
That is why I've always liked the idea of a "stable" of airplanes; one for
fun, one for work,
one for speed, one for hauling, one for search&rescue, one for show, one
for comfort, one
for aerobatics, one for bombing the bad guys, etc. Some planes can fill
several roles at
once, but nothing I can think of covers them all.

Not that I can afford this kind of thinking.

I love Ercoupes and I love Cessnas...I too trained in a Cessna. Should we
talk hi-wing VS
low-wing? Personally I like the *dangling* feeling as opposed to bobbing
around on TOP
of the CG. If we haven't addressed that argument yet, I'd like to hear
some
opinions....
