Yes, had trouble with mine. I'd have to look, but I believe we replaced mine a few years ago at annual inspection time. Meanwhile, shoot the entire length of the cable with WD40 or some penetrant lube and it will probably do wonders as it does on my lawn mower throttle cable.
Grover 99398 P. S. Read Ed. B's reply and that sounds like what we may have done once too. Be sure the little springs at the hinge on your trim tab are good. If they are broken, and the cable breaks, the elevator can flutter. If this happens, the thing to do is try and fly as slow as possible to stop the flutter until you reach your landing field.
