Hi  Anders,

  I've seen the same with my courier-mta on Gentoo. What I found in my search
but haven't had time to try out is that there's an old thread about not using
libcrypt because it gives the above errors.
On my installation I have the crypt USE-flag set on courier and I think it may
be the cause of the problem.

 Maybe Bernt can elaborate on what exactly is triggered with the crypt USE-flag?

Just a bunch of random thoughts.
