Thanks . I mean it was a handful of members who were complaining and I
thought it would just be easier if I handled it but I think he was just
a bit sensitive. Most of our other members are pretty awesome with their
phone etiquette, just this one member.

I think Shane hit the nail on the head. We only intervene if there's a
major issue. Noisy/messy coworkers, we strongly encourage members to
deal with the issues one on one, and have never had an issue go
unresolved.
Outside of that, if this person is insensitive to their coworkers,
that's a much larger problem and the other members are better off
without him and, as such, you are as well.

Sorry to hear of this. Could be he felt attacked if your wording
hinted that others felt this way but you were the messenger. It
would leave him wondering who exactly felt that way... and since
he'd never know since they didn't approach him it would create
tension, for that person at least, any time they interacted with
another member.
If your approach was simply the manager reminding someone about
points in the membership agreement, then you are dealing with an
overly sensitive and insecure person, and if not this incident
then something else would be cause for sensation.
Just stay calm and keep on.

Unfortunately, he took it personally and requested to cancel his
membership. I didn't want this other member to feel targeted
which is why I thought if I approached him directly in a nice way
he would just lower his voice or use the break room or one of the
two conference rooms for his phone calls.

received the reply ," Well this is coworking its not supposed to
be quite!" , but I don't think that's entirely fair. Plenty of
members are on the phone making sales or discussing with clients,
but some are just WAY louder than others. Thoughts?
