What has you confused is the fact that every model file we have requests the genmesh and genmeshfact plugin (along with the null mesh plugin). none of them actually use it. (Is it safe to not request those, then?)
Now, the real question is this: Could we get away with simply changing that over to genmeshfact? or would we have to re-export the file?

You sure? I've run into this with my app, and we don't use thing at
all... i think our models are all converted to genmesh.
