In the New Testament, the disciples of Jesus in their Epistles quote from the
Book of Enoch, which was included among the texts studied by the "Essenes" in
the Library of Qumran. (One such text preserved alongside the Dead Sea
Scrolls is "The Genesis Apocryphon," a fragment wherein Noah's father
discusses with his forefather Enoch the uncertain parentage of the
"luminous-faced" Ark-builder. Enoch is asked, Was Noah's mother seduced by
one of the 'Nefilim' ?) With the "Essene" emphasis on Enoch, and on
Kabbalistic root-concepts like Ezekiel's vision of the flying Chariot-Throne
of YHWH,
it's not surprising that Jesus himself referred --in the SECOND person, never
"I"-- to the "Son of Man," a character which Biblical scholars often identify
as ENOCH, prototype of the Ascended Master, a godlike man-among-gods,
"translated to heaven" like Elijah ...
