Because it's the truth. This list is a group effort. How well it works is
determined by what we all think. I'm not offended by content like this.
I'm offended that someone would show so little respect for the harmonious
cohesion of this often valuable resource we share. Are you being
disruptive on purpose, or don't you realize what you're doing?

When people come in hear and act disruptive, anything I do in response is
not an attack, it's a defense. This happens fairly often. We're trying to
accomplish something here. You're disrupting our effort. Why?

That remains to be seen. The jury's still out on recovered memory. It has
been the object of considerable parapolitical maneuvering by various
cabals. That alone makes it relevant. Whether recovered memory itself is a
valid concept or not, I don't know. Personally, I don't have much faith in
any memory, recovered or otherwise. I want forensic evidence, lots of
forensic evidence. Everything else is opinion.

But what's the connection here? Why bring up recovered memory? Is this MP
case a recovered memory case?

So what? It doesn't matter where it came from. It matters where it ended
up. Why did you post it in its entirety? A summation would have sufficed.
Even warning posted over a blank screen would have been polite. That way
people who wanted to read it could have paged down to it. That way people
who open the post without knowing what was in it would be spared, if they
chose, from having to look at it.

Personally, I think the smart way to live is to look all of reality right
in the face, no matter how ugly it is. Better to know the truth. To shrink
away faint heartedly only makes things worse by denying you some of the
facts.

But not everyone here feels as I do. Some people wish to limit what they
see. Would it hurt so much to be a little polite to them? It's a small
thing. Show a little respect. You're in their home, often in their
bedroom. That's their turf. You're a guest. Show respect for the local
customs.

Otherwise, you will drive some of these people off of this list and out of
my life and I will be very angry about it because I value access to what
they bring to to the list. I don't agree with all of it. I don't even like
some of these people as people (and vise versa as well, I'm sure) But I
value them, and if you're smart, you will value them too, because if they
stay on the list you will learn things from them that you would not learn
any other way.

Do not drive them away by flaunting things you know will alienate them in
in ways that deny them the choice whether to read it or not. Everyone here
values the freedom to choose, or at least their own freedom to choose.
Choice is the issue here. If some of the people on this list want a choice
as to whether or not to have stuff like that in their face, we ought to
give them the choice. You ought to give them the choice.
