A reflection on today's Scripture:
Do we truly believe that the Kingdom of God is here among us? Do we
know for sure that our God is in our midst? St. Paul realized that to
love God, it was necessary to love your fellow man. He sent his
beloved brother to the people so that he would be "useful" to the
Kingdom.
How do we envision the Kingdom? Is it all happiness, joy and peace?
Yes, that would be the ideal -- but most of us would say daily life
is not like that. We all have our crosses to bear and our lives are
somewhat less then perfect! As we go through our days, do we ever
think about the promises our God has made to us? That He will be with
us all days; that He has engraved our names for all eternity, holds
us by the hand; will not leave us orphans; has prepared a place for
us; will come back for us, and so much more!
Meanwhile, we have the Holy Spirit living in each one of us, the one
who is there to lead us and guide us along the right path. If we can
ponder for a moment what the Lord has promised and think about what
He has done for us -- the supreme sacrifice of dying on the Cross --
could we doubt that He walks among us today? Yes, He is there in each
and every person who crosses our path each day.
Give us your eyes O God,
to recognize You in all who we meet,
and to find your Kingdom
in our daily lives. Amen!
