A reflection on today's Scripture:

All Souls . . .

We are truly blessed to have this beautiful scripture handed down to
us through the centuries. When we realize the depth of the Gospel
message and understand the words, we can accept the death of a loved
one. We, who believe in Jesus Christ, know the promise of eternal
life. St. Paul says it in a few words. We know that the love of God
has been placed in our hearts through the power of the Holy Spirit,
yet at times we forget that this was purchased by the Sacred Blood of
Jesus.

We, unlike Thomas, do know the way. Jesus words in the Gospel should
reassure us that we should not be troubled, but should place our trust
in God. He tells us that He has prepared a special place for each of
us in His Father's house and will come back for us to live with Him
forever. He didn't say maybe; He said He WILL come back!

When we pray for those who have gone before us, we pray that they are
with God. We can turn from sadness to joy by remembering that the Lord
is our light and our salvation. Whenever we join in prayer together
and pray for those who have died with Christ we can find comfort.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord,
And let perpetual light shine upon them.
               May they rest in peace,
and may the souls of all the faithful departed,
               through the mercy of God,
               rest in peace. Amen.
