We have been contemplating doing it by hand, but I think the right way is to add a MoinMoin reader to pandoc and get a high quality conversion (that we can repeat as many times as required.) And good news, I've been able to get a pandoc dev environment going and this is looking quite doable. Even limited parsing would be a start.
