It may be but adding external sources should not be the solution. You are creating more problems for yourself and others in the long run, for every external source that has security vulnerability, you have to as the upstream be responsible for providing the fix as well. Take libraw for example, there is divergence between the libraw upstream and darktable included variant. With the latest security issue related to libraw it is not clear if it is fixed or not.
