Thanks for pointing this out. This works for me.

Somehow I keep forgetting that I'm not restricted to the tags as presented
in the tree, but can use arbitrary SQL patterns, including wildcards.

Subject: Re: [darktable-user] Subtags in collections changed in 2.4.3

That change did not create any new behavior, but instead restored the behavior
from before version 2.4.0. See
https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/pull/1662 for the rationale
behind it.

Why would using, e.g.,
'Animals|Vertebrata|Gnathostomata|Tetrapoda|Diapsida|Lepidosauria|Squamata|Gekkonidae%'
not work for you in this case?

I'm a bit disappointed by the changed treatment of subtags in collections
which is labelled a "Bugfix" in 2.4.3:

When collecting by tags, don’t select subtags

To me, the previous behaviour was a feature and not a bug. Assume that you're
very geeky about tagging your pictures of animals and have pictures of two
geckos
in your collection

Animals|Vertebrata|Gnathostomata|Tetrapoda|Diapsida|Lepidosauria|Squamata|Gekkonidae|Hemidactylus|Hemidactylus
frenatus

Animals|Vertebrata|Gnathostomata|Tetrapoda|Diapsida|Lepidosauria|Squamata|Gekkonidae|Phelsuma|Phelsuma
borbonica

Previously, you could collect

Animals|Vertebrata|Gnathostomata|Tetrapoda|Diapsida|Lepidosauria|Squamata|Gekkonidae

and find the pictures of all geckos. Since 2.4.3 one has to logically OR all
subtags.
In the example of the two gecko species, this is not a big deal, but if you
want all
pictures of birds from a specific year, it gets very tedious.

Am I missing something or is there a chance to revert this change?
