That change did not create any new behavior, but instead restored the behavior
from before version 2.4.0. See
https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/pull/1662 for the rationale
behind it.

Why would using, e.g.,
'Animals|Vertebrata|Gnathostomata|Tetrapoda|Diapsida|Lepidosauria|Squamata|Gekkonidae%'
not work for you in this case?

I stumble on this behavior myself. And I did read
https://github.com/darktable-org/darktable/pull/1662
for the rationale

What puzzles me is that
foo|bar%
or
foo|bar|%

did not work for me - in the tags section. I have sub directories that I could have easier collect before but now I have to specifically add the tags with "and" one after another.

DT 2.4.3 on Ubuntu 16.04
While the hovering on the tag line suggests that % as a wild card should work.

Is it only me or others experience it too? Could anybody confirm please?

Regards,

B
