I would like to drag the pointer across the image and automagically box a
pre-selected/default aspect ratio with the long side oriented in the
direction of the drag retaining the ability to make adjustments after the
basic selection.  This is probably quite similar to your proposed "expand
from center" with a slight enhancement, orientation.

I would like to be able to make the crop module automatically active w/o
having to *always* select that module for my first operation.

This ability would greatly enhance my work-flow.
