So what about %O*?  Apparently that does Roman numerals, at least
sometimes.  Where is this stuff actually defined?

I don't mind adding Roman numeral strftime specifiers.  For saint days,
you're on your own.  This would belong in an add in module (or set of
modules, one per language/religion combo? ;) ).
