GUYANA: NFA women demand resumption of death penalty The women's section of the National Front Alliance [NFA] is demanding the reintroduction of the death penalty for murder while condemning what it called the "brutal execution" of woman taxi driver, Seeraji Singh. In a press release, the women noted that there is now an alarming escalation of violence, rape, abductions and murders against women and also demanded an amendment to the law to impose a mandatory 30-year sentence for rape and life imprisonment for attempted murder. They called on all women as well as all Guyana to support these demands and to pressure the government for urgent implementation. (source: Starbroek News)
