INDIA: Allahabad HC upholds death sentence to 2 The Allahabad High Court today upheld the death sentence awarded by a trial court in Sitapur to 2 persons for kidnap and murder of 5 people in 1995. A Lucknow bench, comprising Justice Imtiyaz Murtaza and Justice O N Khandelwal, dismissed an appeal filed against the death sentence awarded to Mulla and Guddu by Additional Sessions Judge, Sitapur, Yatish Chandra Gupta on April 3, 2005 and upheld the order. The 2 persons along with some other people kidnapped 8 villagers in 1995 and released 3 of them to collect the ransom amount. Later, when the demand of ransom was not fulfilled, they brutally killed the remaining 5. (source: The Hindu News)
