To clarify my thoughts I did a *very* rough wireframe of what I think is a cleaner way to do collections, and all related stuff.
http://www.gliffy.com/publish/1334914/ It basically makes all modifications associated with collections doable in a direct kind of way, where you click on the collection to achieve the desired result. This means the collection and share menus go away, as does the Dashboard. The benefits of the dashboard (a place where all your stuff is) remain, but it is, I think a bit less abstract.
