You are absolutely correct.  The irony here is that it is a small
problem with a big effect.

OpenSolaris is trying so hard to be Linux that it hurts.  But the
main audience is not Linux switchers who might have used gnome-terminal
before.  And the non-functional pgup/pkgdown keys is invariably the
first complaint I hear from those people who actually do sit down to
try OpenSolaris (it was mine too, btw).

I fail to understand why this simple change has not found the way
into JDS/OpenSolaris.  Sun could change the first user reaction from
"they can't even configure the terminal correctly" to "feels just
like home" in an instant.  Sigh.
