Hi Brian,
Initially, since Songbird is still considered a developer preview
(we plan a 1.0 user ready release in the spring), it would not be a
replacement. It's video playback is not as sophisticated as Totem's,
nor has it been in distribution for as long as rhythmbox (whether or not
distribution time truly reflects maturity is another discussion :)). So
for now, I think it would be a new program that further augments
OpenSolaris' existing multimedia tools.

Optional dependency for the iPod Sync extension. Without it, you won't
be able to sync to iPods - but other functionality should be unfazed.

Ick, yeah it'll actually be quite hard to make it work with another
database. This is the database library we use for all the
library/metadata storage.

How hard is "hard" to get it in?

Excellent. Thanks, we're looking forward to working with Irene and the
rest of the Desktop group. Any expertise (especially
Mozilla/XULRunner!) would be greatly appreciated.

cheers,
steve
