Hi, you can force the use of solaris xgettext in the configure options:

./configure --prefix=/usr --disable-meanwhile --disable-nm
MAKE=gmake XGETTEXT=/usr/gnu/bin/xgettext

(I used this on SXCE, not OS2008.11).
