I think it is completely unacceptable. Duplication is bad both in terms of system architecture and human resources. It is also strange to see "HAL" in the project name and project proposal. I believe the project should focus on providing a GUI for device management. How that could be achieved is a subject of further research as part of the OpenSolaris project. Whether it is based on gnome-device-manager or something else, does it use HAL or not, does it use RBAC or PolicyKit, etc - these are parts of the solution. -Artem
