I'm looking this thread from the beginning. It looks like that Fluendo
is food only for GStreamer implemented which could be used in other
applications, as well. So if you buy codec from Fluendo then you could
use it via GStreamer in other applications.

Negative side is that there are existing software VNC and mplayer, which
has larger format supporting base, but for some codecs either they do
not have licence or they can be used only with that particular application
they (codecs) are designed to.

Is this final conclusion of this large thread?
