Printing is a funny area when it is working nobody cares about them. When it is not doing what the user expected, it is thunders from hell as far as the user's concern. It is also often true that some printing features are not needed for all users. I agree that there are a number of areas that printing can be made better, yet it is fair to say that significant progress in printing has been made since Solaris 10. More progress is being made, such as CUPS be the default on LiveCD in OS 130, TX printing support for CUPS, GutenPrint new version coming, newer version of GhostScripts are already in.
