Hi Scott,

Anyone can submit their work to the project as Public Domain. Public Domain documents mean that ANYONE can do ANYTHING with the document. There is no thought or legal problem about the document or submission, because there isn't a need, it is in the Public Domain.

I might add that under French copyright law, a work created by a French author can only become public domain 70 years after his death. The author can non divest himself of his moral rights, which are, as the law states "inaliénable, et impréscriptible" (can not be separated or assigned, and do not suffer estoppel).

Again, differences in national copyright legislation have a huge impact on what any given author can do or not with the intellectual property he creates.

BTW, IAAL, and in particular an IP lawyer.
