If you want people to work on a replacement, don't you think these
people should know why to write that replacement?

Why off list? You apparently complain about the DevGuide being not
"free open source" as in some definitions, but you yourself don't want
to discuss this openly? That's nonsense.

Why should anybody consider starting over? Name the problems with the
current devguide and maybe it is worth thinking about it.

But honestly, I for myself think that this would be a big waste of time.
