I would not use this as an argument to re-open 1.3, but:

The LDAP authentication module has a number of issues which have been languishing. I really cannot gripe as I haven't fixed any -- just found some, but for some of us this module has become critical. Apache 2 has incorporated LDAP authentication, but it is not yet getting mainstream attention.

How does that related to 2.0 vs. 1.3, etc? As I see it, we're still somewhat in limbo in that Apache has incorporated LDAP authentication but not enough of the community has taken an interest in the module to see it to full stability quickly. I for one am thus left torn between a fairly well understood bug set on Apache 1.3 LDAP authentication modules and Apache 2's.

[This is certainly not intended as a slight to those putting in serious effort on Apache 2's LDAP authentication modules.]
