I might be wrong, but I think that the Mozilla products (Firefox and Thunderbird) all still uses Myspell which need the 8 bit encoded dictionaries (like OpenOffice 1.x). So there might be more reason for you to consider doing that if it is possible. Is there an 8 bit encoding for Urdu?
