I did that in the branches using sys props

  <properties>
     <property name="maven.logging.root.level">INFO</property>
  </properties>

    <root level="${sys:maven.logging.root.level}">
      <appender-ref ref="console"/>
    </root>

When starting and before any slf4j access, MavenCli check -q or -X or
none of both and correctly set the value to the level
(INFO,ERROR,DEBUG)
Works fine for all slf4j impls using this naming convention.
