Have you seen the recent Geertjan's report on health of the community? Activity drops. Why? I can only speak for myself: because during the freeze there is no place for new development! I am fine to bugfix from time to time, but to have a freeze for 212 days out of 365 is just too much and it shows on the activity of developer community.
