I guess I can't really object. But, I don't really want to learn "yet another 
CM system" :(. Would be nice to know the rationale behind the change though. 
Why would this be considered an "improvement"? I haven't run into anything yet 
that would make me dislike svn.

I would be fully supportive of this.

What do others in the community think? If there are no objections
over the next week I’d like to call a VOTE.

Note, Radu, that this wouldn’t mean “moving to Github”. Github !=
Git != Apache. Apache has writeable Git repos (that run on ASF
hardware) and separately, Git mirrors that mirror and interact with
Github from the Apache gold source. Everyone should check out:
http://git.apache.org for more detail.
