Enis Soztutar commented on PHOENIX-8:
-------------------------------------
I think it makes sense to have a release with the same contents of a previous
non-apache release. I saw similar releases in other incubator projects. It will
allow current customers to switch to apache bits with very little effort and
ease of mind. Andrew are you proposing that we should release repackaged 2.2.x
content, but name it 3.0, or not do that repackaged release, but release 3.0
from current master?
I think with [~jeffreyz]'s efforts, we will have a 2.x based branch which will
allow phoenix to work with hbase 0.96 and 0.98. We can also release 3.0 from
that branch, or have 2.2.x-hbase-0.96 kind of naming for that branch.

> Given the GitHub hosted Phoenix project is already up to the release series
> 2.0.x, I propose the first version of Phoenix released under the Apache roof
> should be 3.0.0.
