3.0 will be the version with backward compatibility going forward, right? So it
seems that is the one that we should use as "stable" version. 2.3 would be a
good "test release" as James states.
The point about 0.94 and 0.96 compatibility is interesting. Is there any way to
separate this out in a separate module so that both can be easily generated
from the same code base? That way we would not need to tie 3.x to 0.94 and 4.x
to 0.96 and later.
