Dear Shindig community
we have a project which leverages Shindig to store activities from several
connected information systems (Liferay Portal, Nuxeo DMS, OX Groupware,
Camunda BPM).
We have further more developed a neo4j-based backend (http://neo4j.com/) to
make Shindig more responsive and scalable, as well as added some
functionality like friend suggestions. We will publish all of that in the
near future on github as a backwards compatible fork of Shindig. The neo4j
backend and some Shindig enhancements are already there
(https://github.com/iisys-hof). I'm furthermore a member of the W3C working
group Social Web (https://www.w3.org/wiki/Socialwg) and interested in
extending Shindig to conform to the upcoming standards developed there.
However, we are a research lab and cannot provide commercial support nor
develop features on request without funding. We might be willing to fix
bugs, if they are relevant in our setting as well. Still I'm quite
optimistic to find ways to contribute to this github project in the future,
once there is no entry hurdle any more.
Regards
René

Dear All,

I'd like to second Ron's query relating to support. Our team successfully
integrated Shindig some time ago but their skill-set does not extend to
maintaining/extending (Java) Shindig itself. Would be interested to hear
from anyone interested in doing so and/or supporting the project under
GitHub or some other repository as permitted.

Kind regards,

Darren

Is the inactivity due to absence of bugs and no suggestions for enhancements
or no interest in fixing bugs or adding missing features?

If an organization still wanted to use it but wanted support, are there
individuals willing and able to provide support on a commercial basis?

What are the other projects and products that depend on Shindig doing in
light of the cessation of development?

Ron
