FWIW I was thinking along similar lines for a different goal - representing content in a Sling-independent way (probably using Maps as you did here) could have other uses, like serializing content for external processing and reimporting back later, with minimal dependencies on Sling. Nothing very concrete on my side for now but maybe there's a valid emerging trend here. -Bertrand
