The "new API" is clearly marked experimental, and so I don't feel that we would be committing to anything. Worse case, we could roll to 2.1.x, and move on. But, as to the new API, I believe the current feeling is that we should send it to the sandbox for now, and revisit the issue after Guice stabilizes.
