I had a similar issue (and still do) on a DIGITAL server.
It is a P2-233 with 64 ram and 8gig of HD I think.
Anyway, it works fine with a boot disk, but I keep getting the LI problem.
The same system works fine with RH. Mind you only if I do a complete
automated graphical install. The text install stuffs up with anaconda
errors.
Anyway, I used RedHat and DOS with FDISK to completely wipe the file system.
FDISK with /MBR to see if there was corruption, etc, etc, etc.
Still have no answer apart from a stack of boot floppies (As floppies always
die).
Cheers,
Richard.

It might. I've also found systems which would not install and boot until I
wiped the disk clean before doing a fresh install. I used:
dd if=/dev/zero of=/dev/hda
to wipe the disk clean.

It's unfortunate that it is a production machine and not one we are free
to test on. It would be good to have a "one size fits all" solution to
this problem.

I'd say that it should be safe to do that. Since you have a boot floppy
and know how to use it, you will be sage enough.

What fun we have.

That sounds exactly like a default gateway setup error. Ar a filter on
your router.

Thanks for your generous words, and your assistance.
