Last night I scrapped our trusty old Netmax 2 fileserver over to E-Smith
4.1.
Only encountered 2 issues:

#1
LI at LILO prompt.
Box is a HP vectra vl series P-III 450/128MB/30GB/EIDE CD.
I let e-smith wipe out the single 30GB drive (previously had Netmax
FIleserver), It does have /boot partition below 1024 cyl. It still seems to
be a geometry problem. BIOS sees entire drive. Would the "linear" option
help? Netmax with a 2.2 kernel did not have this problem. I'll reboot
tonight and see what happens. If still bad, then I'll add the linear
argument to /etc/lilo.conf, run lilo and see what happens. BTW... boots fine
off of the boot floppy and all my users did not know the difference. :) I
was unable to reboot at the time as shift change was happening and everybody
was accessing the box. I'll try again at 2:00am :)

#2
server only configuration on e-smith. selected connection to an outside
proxy. entered in the info and it seemed to take. DNS server entry was made
(only 1) for our company dns server. I am unable to access anything via the
proxy. I cannot even ping anything outside my lan. Inside the lan I can ping
IP's but not URL's. I'll look at this a little more in depth tonight. Any
thoughts you guys can throw my way would be appreciated.

Again, the great part to this all was that none of the users even noticed
the swapover. I spent 30 minutes re-mapping network drives and it was
business as usual. Great Job guys!
