Nonetheless, it's an official RedHat kernel, and not only that, the
_latest_ official RedHat kernel for 7.0 (well, almost--the latest is
actually 2.2.19-7.0.12, not -7.0.8, but I doubt that makes a
difference). If Adaptec claim support for RedHat 7.0, they should
support this kernel. Now, if they have drivers for 2.2.16, and
source for those is available, it seems that it shouldn't be too
difficult to compile them for 2.2.19--but (1) Adaptec should have
done this already, and (2) it's entirely possible there's a snag
somewhere.

Who's criticizing? It seems much simpler than that--if they aren't
willing to provide drivers for your desired OS, and you can't make
them yourself, you have two choices: use different hardware, or use a
different OS.

If they're claiming compatibility with a particular version of a
particular distro, they should provide drivers for all
vendor-supplied kernels for that version, and certainly for the last
one. If not, they really don't support that version.
